NMBA celebrates nurses across Australia on International Nurses Day

12 May 2025

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia today celebrates International Nurses Day, and says thank you to the nurse practitioners, registered nurses and enrolled nurses who continue to improve health outcomes and provide safe care for communities across the country.

As the Australian healthcare landscape experiences rapid changes with an ageing population and increase in chronic diseases, the NMBA continues to streamline pathways to grow the nursing workforce and alleviate existing pressures on our healthcare system.

The NMBA supports the health and wellbeing of all nurses by promoting safe, inclusive and respectful practise through clear professional standards and guidance.

NMBA Chair, Adjunct Professor Veronica Casey AM, recognised the ongoing dedication of nurses, as the largest health profession in the country, to caring for Australians.

‘The Nursing and Midwifery Board wishes a very Happy International Nurses Day to the over half a million nurses across Australia. To each of you we share our thanks for your work in keeping our communities safe and providing expert care – today and every day,’ Professor Casey AM said.
