General registration for IQRN

Registration standard

The Registration standard: General registration for internationally qualified registered nurses came into effect on 23 April 2025.

This registration standard builds on established pathways to streamline the assessment and registration process for eligible internationally qualified registered nurses (IQRNs) who have registered and practised as a registered nurse in an NMBA-approved comparable international jurisdiction.

Please note for applicants who do not meet the requirements of this standard, the existing IQNM assessment process  remains in effect.

All applicants for general registration are also required to meet the NMBA’s core registration standards  including the English language skills registration standard.
