If you are currently registered as an enrolled nurse and are due to complete or have completed an Australian-approved program of study that will qualify you for registration as a registered nurse or midwife, you can apply for registration online via our online services portal.
For all other registration types please use the following downloadable forms for the nursing and midwifery professions.
Online application for renewal of registration opens six to eight weeks before your registration expires. AHPRA will send you a reminder when your registration is due. Look out for this as confirmation that online renewal is open.
If you do not renew your general or non-practising registration by 31 May each year, or within the following one month late period, your name will be removed from the national register of practitioners and your registration will lapse in accordance with the National Law.
If you are not eligible to apply online, please use the appropriate form below.
Please note: The NMBA is moving to a new assessment model for internationally qualified nurses and midwives. As of 3 February 2020, the Application for general registration as an enrolled nurse, registered nurse or midwife (for internationally qualified nurses and midwives) - AGOS-40 form is no longer available. Internationally qualified nurses and midwives who wish to apply for general registration in Australia must first provide their qualification and other details through the Self-check. They will then be advised of the required steps they must successfully complete to be eligible to apply for registration.
Self-check will be available from March 2020. For more information please see the fact sheet.
Applications for registration via the Application for general registration as an enrolled nurse, registered nurse or midwife (for internationally qualified nurses and midwives) - AGOS-40 form will be accepted if posted to Ahpra on or before 21 February 2020. Applications posted after this date will not be accepted.
If you currently hold general registration, you can apply for non-practising registration using online services. Log in to your account to apply.
If you don't currently hold general registration, you can apply for non-practising registration by using the ANPC-40 form:
