Who should read this fact sheet

This is important information for internationally qualified nurses and midwives who wish to contest a decision by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and require information on the responsible Tribunal they should appeal to.

The Australian Capital Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) is the responsible Tribunal in the ACT. To initiate an appeal, you must complete the relevant ACAT application form and lodge it with ACAT. The current ACAT application form is available under Fees and forms on the ACAT website.

The New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) is the responsible Tribunal in NSW, where the appeal will be listed in the NCAT Occupational Division. To initiate an appeal, you must complete the relevant NCAT application form and lodge it with NCAT. The current NCAT application form is available under Making an application on the NCAT website.
